After forty-one years into the fight against HIV & and AIDS, the epidemic is described as mature and generalized in the general population with concentrated sub-epidemics in key and priority populations. Despite that characterization, tremendous progress has been made by Uganda in combating the epidemic and its effects with a significant reduction in new infections, HIV prevalence, and AIDS-related mortality over the last 10 years.
UAC FOCUS
Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) was established under the Office of the President by statute of parliament in 1992 to coordinate the multi-sectoral response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic.
