On 15th May 2022, Uganda joined the rest of the world to commemorate the Candle Light Commemoration (CLM) event where Uganda AIDS Commission (UAC) mobilized partners at national and subnational level to commemorate the day. Candle Light Memorial is an International Day that is commemorated annually on the 3rd Sunday of May to raise awareness of the AIDS pandemic caused by the spread of HIV infection.
The national commemoration in the year 2022 took place at Emokori Grounds, Bukedea Town Council, Bukedea District presided over by Rt. Hon. Speaker of Parliament who was represented by Hon. Babirye Milly Babalanda Minister for the Presidency. The successful candlelight Memorial event was as a result of combined efforts of National and District Organizing Committees, partners, individuals and the leadership of the National and District Local Government leaders.
